2015 ASPIRA of New York Circle of Achiever Event Helping to "Make the Future"

2015 ASPIRA of New York Circle of Achiever Event
Helping to “Make the Future”
-- Platinum Sponsors Included Verizon, Con Edison and CUNY –

On April 9th, ASPIRA of New York celebrated its 54th year with a stellar gala event at eSPACE.  With Verizon’s Fran Shammo as Corporate Chair and leading the charge, the 2015 Circle of Achievement bash honored several esteemed and highly accomplished professionals.

  • CUNY Chancellor James B. Milliken received the 2015 Education Vanguard Award.  CUNY has partnered with ASPIRA on many initiatives, and a multitude of Aspirantes are CUNY graduates.
  • John Vazquez, Senior Vice President for Global Real Estate at Verizon, received the Corporate Leadership Award on behalf of our greatest corporate supporter.
  • Lino Garcia, General Manager for ESPN Deportes -- and former Aspirante -- accepted the ASPIRA Achievement Award.

Circle of Achiever awardees included: Jenny Brito, Section Manager at Con Edison, an incessant corporate supporter, which graciously provided a Platinum sponsorship in 2015; Oscar Torres, Director at Verizon Wireless; Carlos Hoyos, Senior Technical Staff member at IBM; and, Fernando Lopez, Managing Director of Loop Capital.

Over 300 professionals in attendance were instrumental in raising $410K in funds that will be used to help Aspirantes reach their educational endeavors.  And, of course, the successful event would not have been replete without our ASPIRA ambassadors, many of which were recipients of scholarships totaling $15,000 for the evening.

ASPIRA wishes to extend a special thank you to Verizon and Fran Shammo, whose ongoing and unwavering support for many years has enabled Aspirantes achieve their educational dreams and goals.

ASPIRA also extends its gratitude to all supporters of the event and hope for your continued sponsorships in the years ahead, as we continue to cultivate our programs and touch the lives of many more young people striving to achieve their educational goals and aspirations…
